“A lot of people have the idea that Africa is one huge place, but Africa is actually a continent of 54 countries and we just want to showcase five of those today and we are excited for what’s going to happen today,” said Ms Gloriah Mensah, the foundation’s director.
The women represented Rwanda, The Democratic Republic of Congo, Nigeria, Zimbabwe and Sudan. Queen Dera Offokaja, representing Nigeria, won the pageant and the scholarship that comes with the crown.
The event itself is more than just selecting a beauty Queen, it transcends beyond being a pageant to reflect culture and celebrate it.
