On Sunday 21st January, young Naomi Sinnette won the title of Calypso Queen after competition with seventeen other ladies in Queen’s Hall, Saint Anne’s Road. She is the second youngest ever, Calypso Queen. Naomi is twenty years old.
The lady is passionate about singing and has been competing in other singing contests since she was in secondary school. She made a national appearance at the NACC Calypso contest at age eighteen, in 2021. Ms Sinnette did not win. She did not give up. Sinnette was there again in 2022. Still did not win. She placed sixth. She finally won the Monarch Calypso title which boosted her confidence to win yesterday’s competition.
Naomi Sinnette is a typical example of resilience and persistence.
Naomi’s victory is an inspiration to many young ladies. She knew what she was aiming for and achieved it. However, this is only the beginning. Naomi wants to be an international sensation. Trinidad and Tobago is her stepping stone.
