Somalia’s Khadija Omar was selected on September 15th, 2024 to represent her country at the Miss Universe International contest. Khadija is the first ever Miss Universe Somalia and will join over one hundred and thirty beauties from all over the world. One of them would be Miss Universe International 2024/5.
Who is Khadija Omar?
In the first place, Somalia’s Khadija Omar is a model, photographer, Psychologist and philanthropist. She was born in a refugee camp in Kenya in 2000 and relocated with her family to Toronto, Canada when she was ten years old. And she has since engrained herself in this new world.
Secondly, Khadija looks up to Iman Abdulmajid an international model and Halima Aden, the first hijab model. She would be the first ever Miss Universe contestant to wear a hijab. Back in 2021 when she was the first Miss World Somalia, she was also the first contestant in a hijab. Ms. Omar is a first of many.
What is more? Standing at a height of five feet five inches, Somalia’s Khadija Omar has the winning streak. At Miss World 2021, she made the Top 13; at Miss Universe Canada 2024, she was in the Top 5 and was winner of The Most Photogenic contestant. Of all three pageants which she took part, she has come out tops.
Even Khadija’s modelling career is no exception. When her agency dropped her because she was not getting any jobs as a hijab wearer, she did not give up. She went on to achieve greater goals. Having the courage to aim for the best and get it, is Khadija’s favourite thing to do.
